Dundee United confirmed today the transfer of David Partridge to Motherwell FC. Signed on 11th March 1999 from West Ham, the London-born defender made 72 starts for the Tangerines during his time at the Club. In his first season with United, he won the Young Player of the Year award by virtue of his impressive performances, whilst his second season was marked by a combination of illness, injury and suspensions. In January 2002, Partridge went on a three-month loan to Leyton Orient with a view to a permanent move which, however, did not materialise. Manager Smith today announced the transfer of the player to former Tannadice coach Terry Butcher: "The move has gone through amicably and the player and the two clubs are satisfied. David has always given us 100% and the Club appreciates the services he rendered and wishes him all the best of luck."
