Today, Bill Greig, Stewart White and Bob Donaldson of the Dundee United Business Club presented 17-year old United starlet striker Stephen McGowan with the Jack Martin Memorial Plate as their Young Player of the Year. Under-21s Manager Maurice Malpas, who was in attendance, declared: "We are completely delighted that young Stephen has received this recognition. He has had a very good season, and has been our top scorer in the Under-18s with fourteen goals. He has also played three to four games in the U-21s and scored there also. Originally from Glasgow, has come to the Club through our excellent youth system and instantly settled in very well. He works very hard at his game and has shown an incredibly high level of ability. And if his physical prowess continues to go from strength to strength, he can become a regular with the Dundee United first team."
Maurice concluded by saying: It's a particular pleasure for us to present this award to Steg, as Jack would have liked the type of player he is and, more importantly, the person."
