After last Monday's poor showing against Celtic on Tuesday and a somewhat more edifying outing versus Raith Rovers on Friday, Hegarty's Under 18 side were back to winning ways last night when they defeated St Mirren 2-1 at Tannadice.
The first half was characterised by many powerful albeit, in the final analysis fruitless attacks, until the 39th minute, when McMillan (pictured) converted a splendid cross from Steven Bell to give his side the lead. And whilst the Paisley side produced very few chances throughout the match, Christie equalised in 85 minutes from 25 yards in a powerful volley leaving Bruce no chance. United, however, reclaimed their lead courtesy, again, of McMillan in the dying seconds of stoppage time.
United: Bruce, Allum, Callaghan, Holmes, Anderson, Gartland, Bell (Hardie 72), McMenemy (Conway 89) McMillan, Burns, Waddell.
Subs not used: Fionda, McDonald.
