YOUNG TANGERINES STRIVE FOR CONSISTENCY

20th March 2002

Manager Alex Smith will be watching tonight's Under-21 match against Aberdeen at Tannadice with great interest. Not only will it be an opportunity to gauge the progress of the young Tangerine team after this Monday's 3-1 win over Hibernian and to assess the form of individual players for first team selection purposes; it has transpired that Smith is also going to have a close look at two so-far unnamed trialists who will join the line-up this evening. Ahead of the game, Youth Coach Paul Hegarty (pictured) explained that, in view of the current congested U-21 schedule, three or four players from Monday's outfit would be rested: "This is our second game in three days, so we have decided to give some of the lads a break whilst offering other youth players the opportunity to gather experience at a higher level. The task tonight is to build on Monday's win and to go on producing good results more consistently."

The match kicks off at 7.00pm.
