The United Under-21's returned to action this evening after a combination of the winter break followed by recent postponements meant that the young Tangerines had seen no action for two months. The extended lay-off had little effect on United as they followed up a
4-0 rout of Dundee at Tannadice in their last match before the break back in mid-December with a another win over the Dundee Under-21's at Dens Park to give visitors back to back derby victories.
Jamie Buchan was selected following his return to Tannadice in a United side featuring a mix of first team players, Under-21 regulars and some of the younger lads who play in the Under-18 side.
Down 0-1 at half time to a 20th minute Dundee goal, United were disappointing in the first half coming closest when David Hannah hit the post. The young Tangerines got back into the match when David McCracken (pictured) managed to knock the ball into the home net in a goal mouth scramble mid-way through the second half. With just ten minutes left, Jim Paterson scored to put the seal on an excellent comeback and give United the three points.
