Dundee United made it a full house as Louis Moult was named the 2023/24 cinch Championship Player of the Season!
After a stellar campaign with 25 goal contributions, the Englishman was also included in the PFA Championship Team of the Year and was one of the four nominees in the running for the Championship Player of the Season at the PFA awards.
Our marksman last won individual accolades back in March, picking up Player of the Month and Goal of the Month for his audacious effort against Inverness Caledonian Thistle - which also won our Goal of the Season at our 2023/24 Player of the Year Awards!
SETTING THE STANDARDS
The season started with a flurry of goals at Arbroath - our number 9 notching the fourth to go alongside three prior assists in one of many standout displays.
Three of our frontline would finish the season on double figures, Louis topping the charts on 20 overall with both Kai Fotheringham and Tony Watt finishing the Championship-winning season on 15. They are the first trio to return fifteen goals or more each since Kjell Olofsson, Gary McSwegan and Robbie Winters in season 1997/98.
An important spot-kick against Raith Rovers back in March sealed three points that sent us well on our way to securing promotion at the first time of asking.
His latest strike also came from the penalty spot - this time at the second time of asking - as we put Partick Thistle to the sword on the final day.
ICING ON THE CAKE
Upon the announcement, Moult commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won Player of the Season. It's been a fantastic year for everyone at the football club and we achieved the main objective of gaining promotion.
"Personally, I think I've been able to prove myself again and hitting 20 goals was the icing on the cake.
"I'm so proud of the group and thankful to the fans for their support this season - none of this is possible without them!"
