Dundee United Manager Jim Goodwin has been named Glen's Vodka Championship Manager of the Year for season 2023/24!
To go alongside a hat-trick of monthly honours, the Irishman rounded off his record-breaking season in management with the most prestigious award on offer.
BREAKING THE RECORDS
Goodwin's title-winning side amassed 75 points in our 36 cinch Championship fixtures, the highest points return in the league since 2015/16.
12 wins from 18 on the road also set a new club record, with the Tangerine Army being treated to some stellar showings along the way - including 5-0 routs at Firhill and Hampden Park respectively.
In addition, a total of 19 clean sheets built a strong foundation - surpassing our previous shutout record set in 1986/87 with Billy Thomson totaling 18. The Terrors also equalled the record for the least goals conceded in the second tier since a change to the format back in 1994 with just 23 goals against.
With an almost unfathomable goal difference of +50, rippling the net 73 times also took heed as the best Championship goal return since 2015/16. This has only been bettered in our history by Jim McLean's title-winning side accumulating a 55-goal swing.
AN AWARD FOR EVERYONE
Selfless in acceptance, Goodwin commented: “It's a real honour to be named the Glen's Vodka Championship Manager of the Season.
"As with any individual accolade, these awards are for everybody at the football club and represent the hard work and collective effort we’ve all shown this season. Without that, it would not be possible for us to succeed.
“The scenes at the end of our final home match were something really special, and I’m glad that the occasion could be enjoyed with families, friends and our supporters. Gaining promotion at the first time of asking was a tremendous achievement - and one everyone connected with the club should be proud of. As we all know, it’s never about an individual in this game.
“I’d like to personally thank the supporters for their tremendous backing and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to the new season getting underway!”
