Dundee United are delighted to announce the extension of Craig Sibbald’s contract, as he pens a new deal which will keep him at Tannadice until the summer of 2026.
Initially joining the club in July 2022, Sibbald’s consistency in the middle of the park saw him firmly cement his status as a fans’ favourite on the terraces.
Last term, the midfield general played an outstanding 88% of our cinch Championship minutes, as he was an integral cog in the tangerine wheel which secured promotion back to the Premiership at the first time of asking.
Balancing his defensive duties with a potent threat in the attacking third, Sibbald netted four fine strikes throughout the campaign, most recently restoring parity against Partick Thistle in a memorable 4-1 triumph over the Glasgow outfit.
Furthermore, he ranked in the league’s top three for pass accuracy percentage into the final third, made over 160 interceptions and completed more dribbles than any other central midfielder in the division.
A phenomenal season was recognised at our showpiece 2024 Player of the Year Awards Dinner, with the former Livingston and Falkirk man garnering individual acclaim from fans, peers and coaching staff alike to take home all three awards.
In total, Sibbald boasts 80 competitive appearances in tangerine, and having committed his future to the city of Discovery, he is set to become the 162nd player in the history of the club to represent United over a century of times.
No other current United player has been utilised more frequently by Manager Jim Goodwin.
