DAVIDSON GOES TO RAITH ON LOAN

26th January 2002

Hugh Davidson has joined First Division Raith Rovers on a month's loan. The Kirkcaldy side, now managed by former United coach Jocky Scott, currently languish at the foot of their Division although their recent 1-0 win over St Mirren has given them some hope of a recovery.

United Manager Alex Smith was happy to let one of his young players gain valuable experience. "We have decided to allow Hugh to join Raith Rovers on a month's loan so that he can get some first team experience. This will be an ideal opportunity for Hugh to regain his match fitness after months of illness and injury. He is one of the many promising young players we have at Tannadice. Unfortunately his career has been hampered over the last twelve months but I feel that he can still go on to be a very important part of Dundee United's future. He is a talented player who can play in several positions and is now approaching a very important stage in his career.

Twenty-one-year-old Hugh, a local lad, has started 28 times for the first team plus he has made 13 appearances from the substitutes bench, scoring two goals in the process. He has also played five times for the Scotland Under-21 side.
