Archie Meekison will join cinch League One outfit Falkirk on loan until the end of the season.
The midfielder has made nine appearances for United this season, eight of them coming from the bench. Meekison grabbed the Dundee United B headlines this week with a sensational solo strike, the first step on the way to a thumping 5-0 defeat of their city rivals.
He debuted for Scotland at U21 level back in September, joining fellow Academy graduate Chris Mochrie on the turf at the SMiSA Stadium against Northern Ireland.
Meekison and Mochrie, enjoying a successful loan spell with Dunfermline Athletic, will now go blow for blow in League One as the local rivals hunt down the title to secure automatic promotion. Seven points currently separate the teams, the Pars top of the pile with aforementioned Falkirk and FC Edinburgh in hot pursuit.
Meekison, 20, heads to Stirlingshire presented with the opportunity to get more game time under his belt this season ahead of his return to United in the summer.
Undoubted Talents
Head of Player Pathways and Loans, Brian Grant, offered his insight on Archie's loan move.
"Archie has been a top professional throughout his time at Tannadice, setting exemplary standards whilst training with the first-team and Dundee United B.
"It's a great move for him and he's a kid with undoubted talent.
"I could sense Archie's frustration about not getting more regular minutes so I think it's the best thing for him. He'll go away and be involved in matchdays more regularly and it'll help him to kick on with us when he comes back in the summer."
