United's Manager Alex Smith is delighted that Greek favourite Tassos Venetis has signed a two and a half year extension to his contract. "Tassos came here some two years ago as an 18 year-old lad and he has now become a regular first team squad member," commented Alex. "He is now beginning to fulfil all the promise that former manager Paul Sturrock saw in him."
The Manager outlined the future for his young star. "He will be a very important member of the first team squad in the next period of his contract. He is tall, athletic, skilful and a very quick player and a fans favourite. He is one of a number of outstanding young talented players who have pledged themselves to the future of Dundee United such as Paul Gallacher, Jamie McCunnie, Hasney Aljofree, Craig Easton, Jim Lauchlan, Steven Thompson, Steven Carson, Stef McConalogue, David McCracken and Jim Paterson."
