To celebrate St Andrew's Day, we are delighted to launch our official Dundee United Football Club Tartan - commissioned and registered by Piob Mhor of Scotland.
A national symbol of Scottish heritage, our tartan weaves between past, present and future, drawing on our club colours of black and tangerine.
It is both a distinct and unique reminder of our historic roots, bedded deep into Scottish culture and society.
Our tartan range in full includes:
Flatcap, baseball cap, bow tie, a dress tie, hip-flask and a sheep’s wool scarf.
Piob Mhor Background
Piob Mhor (Gaelic for "Great Pipes"), became renowned worldwide for manufacturing and supplying premium kilts, Highland wear, Highland dancer's outfits and bagpipes.
The family-run business opened its doors for the first time in March 1979 in Blairgowrie by Ruthven and Gwen Milne, making kilts and bagpipes.
Although the manufacturing of bagpipes is no more, the business has evolved and adapted throughout the years and kept the name on due to its excellent reputation and is currently run by the family's 2nd and 3rd generations.
Their shop has been situated in Blairgowrie's High Street for almost 44 years and still makes traditional made-to-measure kilts in thousands of tartans.
Piob Mhor of Scotland has designed numerous tartans throughout the years, including the popular Heart of Scotland and Alt Dubh tartans, as well as personal and corporate tartans.
In combining his experience of tartan and his love for Dundee United, Scott Blackburn (3rd Generation) liaised with the club in designing and bringing to life our first ever 'Official' Dundee United tartan which will incorporate a new range of products.
Piob Mhor of Scotland is justifiably proud of its quality and craftsmanship - and is delighted to be adding the Dundee United tartan to its impressive back catalogue.
