United Team Manger Alex Smith was upbeat about his young side following the Tangerine’s 1-1 draw with Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday. “It was very encouraging to see Charlie (Miller) something like back to his best form on Saturday,” enthused Alex. “Charlie is such an important player for United when he plays as effectively as he did at Dens. He is definitely one of the most talented offensive midfield players in the Scottish game and his goal was an example of this.”
The Manager was also pleased with other aspects of his midfield. “It was very gratifying to see the performances of Jamie Fullarton and Skipper Danny Griffin, both of whom dominated the middle of the park. It is important that we move forward from Saturday’s match and go into the Dunfermline and St Johnstone games with confidence drawn from the derby encounter. As both matches are at Tannadice, it is essential to win our home games if we are to achieve our top six aspirations.”
