EDWARDS : WE CAN GO FOURTH AND EXPRESS OURSELVES

Ryan Edwards is determined to lead the Terrors into fourth place - and stamp our Passport to Europe.

After clinching top six with a point in the Dundee Derby, our Skipper would be delighted to help lead us into European football for the first time in a decade

The defender heads into our game against the Jambos at the weekend safe in the knowledge his team will be backed by a vocal home support, with single match tickets on sale as well as our two or three-game Passport to Europe packages.

With home clashes against Motherwell and Celtic follow, in addition to a trip south to Govan and north to Dingwall, Edwards wants to close in on fourth place.

“If you look back over what Tony Asghar has done in his time here, with the managers he has brought in it has always been heading upwards" said the 28-year-old.

It has always been healthy - play-offs, promotion, securing league status in the Premiership and top six. That’s success in itself, it has always been going uphill rather than looking downwards.

We have had a little bit of criticism this year over the way performances may not have been catching the eye, but we have got results and if anyone wants to come here and tell me they want to be sitting where Hibs or Aberdeen are I’d like to hear that because I’m sure they wouldn’t.

We’re sitting in the top six and big clubs like that aren’t. We can go into the game against Hearts fourth or be down at the bottom of the league. That’s pressure - fighting to stay up in the league - and I know where I’d rather be personally."

Europe

“At the start of the season, I wasn’t aware of what could get you into Europe.

I didn’t know how much of a carrot would be dangling for us. It turns out now, because Hibs have been knocked out of the Scottish Cup, five teams can get into Europe.

I know that’s an achievement in itself but fourth is better than fifth for anyone.

If we get fourth, that’s a big attraction for everyone at the club - especially if we are trying to lure players to Tannadice in the future.

It's there for us. It's in our own hands, but we have five massive games against the rest of the top six and have to take each one as it comes."

We take on Hearts at Tannadice at 3pm on Sunday.
