Dundee United are pleased to announce the extension of Miller Thomson’s contract, with the Young Terror committing his future to Tannadice until the summer of 2024.
After joining the Academy aged 11, Miller graduated from the SFA Performance School at St John’s High. His consistent string of performances for Ryan Moon’s Under-18s has seen him rewarded with the Academy’s Player of the Month award to go alongside his new deal. The 17-year-old can play a variety of different positions, featuring at right-back and as a centre-midfielder for the U18s, but is predominantly utilised out wide.
Academy Director Andy Goldie expressed his delight in securing Miller’s services for a further two years. “Despite having a difficult start to life as a full-time professional with injury, Miller has demonstrated fantastic resilience, patience and commitment to his development, and reaped the rewards this season.
Having already earned his place in the First Team squad on two occasions, Miller‘s challenge now is to sustain the push for his next milestone as he transitions out the Under 18s squad over the coming months.”
Under-18s Head Coach, Ryan Moon, added “Miller has earned a new contract extension through complete determination and hard work every day on the training pitch. After suffering a long-term injury last year, he focused on his physical development to be robust and powerful, which has shown in his recent performances for the under 18’s squad. Miller has proven himself to be a resilient and important member of the under 18 squad this season, offering versatility in attacking positions. It is important he now maintains his level of performances and hard work to push himself closer to the first team."
Finally, Miller himself said "I'm absolutely delighted to sign a contract extension with the club. I'm looking forward to getting more opportunities and working harder to break into the first-team squad."
