United Manager Alex Smith was disappointed with many aspects of United's play against Hibernian last night but felt that the players should now look ahead to building on their fifth top position in the SPL.
"I was extremely disappointed with last night's performance and result. Only a few players performed to an acceptable standard, namely Griffin, Lauchlan, Gallacher and Easton."
Alex felt that the team under performed. "The possibility of qualifying for a major Cup semi-final should motivate the players and the worst I would expect is to take the game to a penalty shoot-out. We now have to pick ourselves up and look ahead to improving our league position where we have been making steady progress. We have the opportunity to establish ourselves in the top five and a positive result at Rugby Park would perhaps go some way to making up for our performance at Easter Road."
The Manager had some words for Hibernian. "We do wish our opponents from last night all the best in the next stage of the competition. They undoubtedly deserved to win the game."
