OUR ACADEMY GRADUATE JAMIE McCABE SIGNS PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT

We are delighted to announce our latest young talent has graduated from Our Academy, as Jamie McCabe has penned his first professional contract with Dundee United.

Goalkeeper Jamie has been at the club since the age of 13 and has massively impressed his first-team seniors Benji Siegrist, Trevor Carson and Jack Newman along with Goalkeeping Coach Tony Caig in recent months.

The 15-year-old has signed a two-year contract and everyone at the club is excited to see how he develops over the coming years under the watchful eyes of the tremendous goalkeeping talent we have at Tannadice.

Since arriving at the club, Jamie has been part of the Under 18s squad as backup to Fraser Currid, Jack Newman and Ruairidh Adams but will be pushing for the number one jersey this season.

"I am absolutely delighted to sign for the club, in the past two years I’ve loved every minute and I’m delighted to extend that by another two years and become a full-time football player," said Jamie.

"Working previously with Neil and now Tony has really improved my game, but not just learning from the coaches, learning from the other keepers has been essential. Benji and Trevor have been brilliant with me, passing on advice.

"Also learning from Jack who has just come out the stage I am at in my career. In my two years, I want to hopefully earn an extension to my current deal and cement my place as the 18s number one."

Goalkeeping Coach Tony Caig added: "I’m delighted that Jamie has decided to join us full time. I’m sure he’ll fit in really well into our working goalkeeping group and will keep steadily improving by learning from the Coaching staff and other senior Goalkeepers."
