Continuing on from their Festive Friends and Burns Supper Night initiatives, the Club's Community Trust (DUCT) organised a St Patrick’s Day themed Afternoon Tea box to be delivered to families all around Dundee, as a sweet treat for everyone to enjoy!
DUCT was able to deliver 50 boxes - supporting a total of 100 people - with the Afternoon Tea box which was full of tasty treats, including sandwiches, pies and loads of sweetness, made by Taypark House and Just Baked. In addition to the fantastic food within the boxes, DUCT also added some fun activities for the whole family to play including rainbow magnets and bingo cards.
DUCT then teamed up with organisations across the city to reach out to families who were in need of a little pick me up treat during these difficult times. Thank you to Big Noise, Greylodge Settlement and everyone who helped identify families to receive this support. Huge thanks also to our great team of volunteers for delivering our gift boxes to families across the City.
All the Afternoon Teas were loved, with some families getting in touch to say:
"They were absolutely wonderful."
"Thank you so much for the afternoon tea delivery, my Mum is delighted."
Jamie Kirk, Chief Executive for the Community Trust, commented on the initiative, “I’m really pleased to see this creative concept come to life. Well done to Lauren Cain – who is on placement with the charity – and Melissa Gormley for organising the boxes. The quality of the food within the stylish boxes was clear to see and we’re really grateful to Glenn at Taypark House and Ryan at JustBaked for supporting us in making this available to families in the City.
Look out for some more food distribution projects in the coming months! Please email enquiries@dundeeunitedct.co.uk if you’d like to be notified of future activities, either a service user or referring agency.
