A Robyn Smith double ensured Dundee United came from two goals down at the Regional Performance Centre on Tuesday night but they were unfortunate not to take all three points.
After Glasgow took the lead through Kaitlyn Canavan and Shivohn Honeyman, Smith netted two in six minutes before the break but neither side were able to add to their tally in the second half.
Gavin Beith fielded the same eleven that defeated St Johnstone on Sunday as he looked for another three points to take them closer to the top of the table.
The visitors had the first opportunity nine minutes in as Canavan sent a low effort wide of the mark.
Four minutes later Stina Kleppe had a long range effort fly wide but it wasn’t long before the deadlock was broken.
Jade Wilson broke with the ball on the right wing in the 15th minute and her cross found the head of Canavan as she sent her header into the top corner.
Glasgow doubled their advantage just before the half hour mark; the ball fell to Shivohn Honeyman at the edge of the box and her first time effort rocketed past Caroline Nachman.
The two goal lead didn’t last for long however as just over sixty seconds later United pulled one back. A slack pass back allowed Robyn Smith to run onto the ball and fire past Gibney.
Seven minutes after going 2-0 down, it was two each and it was a spectacular goal from Smith to level the scores; Neve Guthrie’s original effort was blocked and as the ball came down Smith took to the air with an acrobatic finish.
The winger could have had a hat trick before the break as she got her head onto a Holly Napier corner but couldn’t direct the ball on target.
The two goals galvanised United and they looked the most likely to grab the next goal with Guthrie testing Gibney just after half time.
Another Napier corner found Megan Burns in the 50th minute, however her effort was blocked and Glasgow could only clear as far as Erin Ross; she set up Guthrie who saw her near post strike pushed wide.
At the other end Canavan looked to get her second headed goal of the evening but was unable to replicate her first.
Jade McLaren wanted to try adding to the spectacular goals this evening as her 30-yard strike before the hour mark flew off target.
She tried her luck five yards closer in the 65th minute, ending with the same result as the first attempt.
With thirteen minutes remaining, Burns found Kleppe with a pinpoint cross which the Norwegian took down but before she could pull the trigger she was crowded out by the visiting defence.
United were given a free kick just outside the Glasgow box in the 85th minute as Gibney gathered the ball on the wrong side of the 18 yard line and found herself booked for this. Kleppe stepped up to take the set piece as she fired inches past the post.
Despite looking the better team in the second half, United were unable to take all three points but the one point means they stay sixth in the league ahead of Sunday’s home clash with Hamilton Academical.
