Ahead of our first away match of the 2020/21 Premiership season, Dundee United Football Club is delighted to reveal our new away kit and partnership with Alzheimer Scotland.
It is only fitting that as we enter into a new era we do so wearing a colour never before seen in the Club’s history and Alzheimer Scotland’s striking purple colours were the natural choice to incorporate into the away kit design along with a subtle hint of tangerine.
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s leading dementia charity who offers support to people living with dementia, their carers and families, often prior to diagnosis right the way through their journey with dementia. Through fundraised income, they run the UK’s only 24-hour freephone Dementia Helpline, fund Dementia Resource Centres and Dementia Advisors and provide a variety of community groups and activities. They also work with local communities across Scotland to help them become more dementia-friendly, campaign for the rights of people with dementia and their carers and invest in high-quality research.
Sa Craig, Head of Stakeholder Engagement at Alzheimer’s Scotland, said: “We are very thankful to Dundee United for choosing Alzheimer Scotland as one of their nominated charity partners for the 2020/21 season. The Club is already a fantastic supporter of Alzheimer Scotland through the Football Memories Project and we’re really looking forward to working closely together in the coming months.
"This most recent opportunity comes at a time where the charity has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, so to be able to have Dundee United as a partner, as well as benefitting from fundraising opportunities such as bucket collections, will make a significant contribution to helping us provide support to people with dementia and their families, not only in Dundee but across the whole of Scotland.”
Grant Blue, Head of Retail operations at Dundee United Football Club added: “The Club was looking for a primary charity partner for the return to the Premiership and after working with Alzheimer Scotland in the past it seemed the perfect fit. Tangerine and purple complement each other on the colour wheel and they make for a striking design both on and off the pitch. The Club is looking forward to working with Alzheimer Scotland throughout the season on various charity initiatives.”
The 2020/21 away shirt is manufactured using Macron’s Softlock mesh inserts and the high-tech M-Performance System fabric for increased comfort, breathability, and moisture absorption. The shirt's tangerine and black fade effect on the front features an embossed silicone crest and Macron hero for added match day comfort making the shirt extremely lightweight, malleable, and durable. The Rampant Lion is included on the shirt along with the phrase “Humility, Work Ethic and Team” on the hem making it the last thing the players see before taking to the Tannadice pitch.
The tangerine trim on the shirt is also included on the purple and black shorts which further include the player specification, silicone crest and Hero. The kit is completed by purple socks with a black and tangerine roll down embroidered with DUFC and the Macron Hero.
