Defender David McCracken has put pen to paper in a new-improved deal which ties him to United until 2005.
In signing the freshened-up contract, the 19 year-old joins the likes of Paul Gallacher and Jamie McCunnie on the list of youngsters to be rewarded for their development through the Tannadice ranks.
Boss Alex Smith underlined his admiration for the young centre-half by handing him a Scotland Under 21 cap last week and that's now been followed up with the offer of an extended stay at Tannadice, which the player accepted with the minimum of fuss.
Said Smith,"This is a good deal for David and for the club and it's just reward for his emergence into the first team squad. He was on a young lads contract before, but this now gives him a bit more security and an assurance that he's part of our longer-term plans."
