Alex Smith talked this morning about his decision to play Jim Lauchlan in the CIS Cup tie with St. Johnstone last Tuesday.
"We have no injuries for tomorrow but of course we will be without Jim Lauchlan who is suspended. Playing Lauchlan on Tuesday was all about getting a result. I felt that the boost we would get in the dressing room from winning on Tuesday was the important consideration. If we won the cup tie we would go into the Hibs game with increased confidence."
"The alternative was to take a chance, play St. Johnstone without Lauchlan, maybe increase the chances of losing, then have to face Hibs without Lauchlan and with possibly dented confidence. In the end we go the best of both worlds because not only did Lauchlan take part but Partridge and Aljofree both played for a period of the game. It worked out well and the boost of getting through to the next round has been as good as we expected so everyone is raring to go."
