The life changing programme Football Fans in Training is returning for 2019-20 and Dundee United supporters can sign up for free now!
The SPFL Trust’s course runs for 13 weeks and differs to the normal “weight loss” programmes out there, offering advice and practical ways to make changes to your lifestyle, all whilst going behind the scenes here at Dundee United.
From good ideas about what and how much to eat, tips on changing your lifestyle, or introducing simple opportunities to exercise, everyone can be a winner at FFIT.
The main aims of the programme are to:
· Feel better about yourself
· Become more active
· Lose weight
· Develop a healthier lifestyle
· Get fitter
If you are a man or woman aged between 35-65 with a waist size of 38 inches or more, FFIT may be just the ticket to help you kick off a healthier lifestyle.
Every 90-minute session contains a different topic, which includes managing your alcohol consumption, understanding food labels and balancing your diet. There is also a physical component to each session. This can be a gentle walk, a circuit session with our trained coaching staff or a game of football.
FFIT is open to those who enjoy football or those who just want make changes to their health. You do not need to be a supporter of Dundee United to take part in the course.
Below are the testimonies of two 2019 FFIT graduates:-
“The class started off with a general look at your own fitness level and information on what we would be doing over the next 12 weeks. This course was very informative and as a group of guys we all bounced ideas off one another to help each other. I felt this was a great way to interact not only with the others but also with our instructor who made us feel so at ease but worked us to our own individual strengths. It was not about competing with others but about doing things you could achieve safely and enjoy doing.”
“Having just returned from holiday and tipping the scales at the heaviest I had ever been, I decided that I had had enough of being out of condition and needed to take action. I had heard of FFIT and took the opportunity to join the course through Dundee United Community Trust. From the first session, I thoroughly enjoyed taking part. The group quickly engaged and there was a very good level of learning as well as fun. The course has provided me with a life-changing mindset. I am now much more aware of nutritional intake. I have also learned that it’s ok to have the occasional treat and how to compensate for it. Being a lifelong United fan, it was terrific to exercise within the stadium including running around the outside of the pitch like all of my heroes going back to the late 70s and 80s.”
The free programme starts in late September, details are as follows:
Men's Group - Monday 23rd September - 6.30pm to 8pm.
Women’s Group - Wednesday 25th September - 6.30pm to 8pm.
