Wear It Tangerine Day Fundraising Success

22nd March 2019

The Club’s recent "Wear it Tangerine Day" in aid of Alzheimer Scotland raised a phenomenal combined total of £1,388.62 from the matchday bucket collection and the shop sales donation. In a special promotion, the Tannadice retail outlet Dundee United Direct teamed up with the Club to ensure that 10% of all shop purchases on the day of our Scottish Cup Quarter Final v Inverness CT on Sunday 3 March would go into the local Alzheimer Scotland support system.

Wendy Rankin, Dundee Dementia Advisor for Alzheimer Scotland, said: “A massive thank to all those supporters who so generously donated at the bucket collection and by purchasing merchandise at the Dundee United Superstore. With around 90,000 people living with dementia in Scotland, it is our biggest health and social care challenge and it isn’t going to go away. All monies raised will help ensure that Alzheimer Scotland can continue to provide local support, activities and advice, aiding our mission to make sure nobody faces dementia alone."

Dundee United Community Trust Chairman David Dorward said, "Dementia is a matter close to all of our hearts and this has been an amazing effort in aid of the local dementia support network. Dundee United has a proud track record of raising awareness about the disease and has officially endorsed the campaign for Frank’s Law since its inception. The Community Trust works in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland and a team of dedicated volunteers to facilitate our monthly Football Memories reminiscence project which supports people in our community living with dementia.”
