Like last week against Dundee, the Tangerines fielded a very strong side, but though Hamilton were made of sterner stuff, Craig Easton’s side cruised to victory at St Andrews University this afternoon.

Little separated the sides until United opened the scoring on 20 minutes, Paul Watson powering home a header from a Cammy Smith corner.
Five minutes from the break, Calum Butcher’s lay-off found Osman Sow in space and he slotted home the second from 12 yards for his first goal for United.
United then struck twice early in the second half.
Four minutes after the restart, Aidan Nesbitt showed great control before volleying home from 10 yards.
And two minutes later, Sow swept home a free-kick from just outside the box.
Just after the visitors had Scott Boyd red-carded, substitute Scott Banks bagged the fifth, stealing the ball off the defender and breaking clear to finish clinically.
Shortly before the end, Deniz Mehmet replaced Ross Laidlaw in goal to play his first competitive game following the cruciate injury he suffered last May.
Dundee United: Laidlaw (Trialist 74), Watson, Booth, Fyvie, Reynolds (Graham 74), Toshney, C Smith (M Smith 65), Butcher (Inglis 65), Sow, Stanton, Nesbitt (Banks 68).
