FIVE THINGS ABOUT ROBBIE NEILSON

Dundee United today appointed ex-Hearts and MK Dons manager Robbie Neilson as the club's Head Coach. Here are five things you may or may not know about our new gaffer.

1. Robbie has a Scottish Cup winners medal to his name. He was in the Hearts team that defeated Gretna to win the 2006 Scottish Cup final.

2. Robbie won one Scottish cap. in 2006, Robbie played for Scotland in a 2-0 defeat to Ukraine in Kiev. He also made four Champions League appearances for Hearts that season.

3. Robbie's last of his 23 games for Dundee United ended in a 1-0 victory over Celtic with United's current under-18s coach Scott Robertson scoring the winning goal. Robbie only tasted defeat six times in a United shirt. Three of those were to Celtic, two to Aberdeen and one to Rangers. Robbie also received seven cautions and one red card during his spell at Tannadice.

4. Robbie took his first manager's job at Tynecastle as a 34-year-old, and he won the Championship title with seven games to spare amassing 91 points in a league that had both Hibs and Rangers in it. Robbie won his first seven games in charge.

5. Robbie left Hearts in second place in the Premiership to take on the challenge of MK Dons in League One down south. Statistically, he had a 58.5% win rate as Hearts boss and 37.9% win rate as MK Dons manager.

Neilson will be in charge of the United team for the first time in Saturday's away fixture at Partick Thistle (13/10) and will lead the team at Tannadice for the first time the following Saturday (20/10) against Inverness.
