PREVIEW

Dundee United welcome Morton to Tannadice on Saturday as they return to SPFL Ladbrokes Championship action.

The visitors will arrive with a new man at the helm. Jonathan Johansen, previously an assistant manager at Rangers, will take his place in the dugout following the shock decision of, former United manager, Ray McKinnon to make a move to Falkirk on transfer deadline day.

Morton, currently one place below United in the league, will look to continue an impressive start to the campaign, especially given the number of players brought in over the summer. Chris Millar appears to be their focal point and having been victorious against United in his days with St Johnstone; he will be keen to continue his record against the Tangerines.

The big news from Tannadice this week is the return of former first-team regulars Billy King and Fraser Fyvie. Both players made their first contributions of the season last weekend in the Irn Bru Cup tie against Alloa and followed this up with 45 minutes each in the reserve fixture against St Johnstone on Tuesday. They will be keen to force their way into starting berths for the game on Saturday, and arguably Fyvie made a better case for himself. Entering the game with 20 minutes remaining he took up where he left off back in December, spraying passes, picking up loose balls and almost fired a last minute winner for United with a ferocious thirty-yard free kick.

While fans, players and the manager will be disappointed with only picking up a single point at Recreation Park last time out, it meant that United went three games undefeated in the league and all will be hoping that this will continue this Saturday at Tannadice.
