MCCUNNIE AND LAUCHLAN SET TO RETURN

25th September 2001

Jamie McCunnie and Jim Lauchlan are both expected to take their usual places in defence tonight against Dumbarton in the CIS Cup following their enforced absence against Rangers.

At Tannadice today eighteen year old Jamie spoke of the frustration caused his automatic one-match suspension following his dismissal against Aberdeen the previous week.

"Getting sent off at Pittodrie and having to sit in the stand as the boys lost to Rangers are definitely the worst things that have happened to me since I came into the first team at United," admitted the young full-back.

"Hopefully I will be back in the starting eleven against Dumbarton. We won't underestimate Dumbarton. The manager went to see them and he has warned us they have a couple of useful players. However, we know that if we play to the level we can we should make it through to the next round, and everyone is determined we are going to do that."
