UNITED U21s LOSE OPENING GAME

The Under-21s league campaign got underway tonight with a 2-1 home defeat against St Johnstone, but there was the consolation of fine performances from the likes of new signing Stephen Carson and striker Steven Thompson, who reduced the deficit to one when he scored in the 64th minute.

Added to that, defender Stephen Wright's comeback continued with another 90 minutes.
