The Tangerines could have no complaints about the outcome at Station Park but, by scoring twice late on, Motherwell’s winning margin was slightly flattering.

United fielded two trialists up front in Mason Robertson and Edward Ofere who left Tannadice at the end of last season.
But Motherwell almost took an early lead when Dylan Mackin was denied by keeper Josh Donladson with his second effort being cleared off the line.
At the other end, Ali Coote saw his shot well saved by Jordan Pettigrew after 19 minutes for what proved to be the home side’s best chance of the match.
Just after the half hour mark, the trialist in the visiting ranks opened the scoring with an angled drive from 15 yards.
Chances were few and far between for most of the second half with the exception of Donladson blocking a Mackin effort at close quarters.
With just five minutes left, a first time 20 yarder from Lee Lucas took sufficient deflection to leave Donaldson helpless.
And a minute later Jake Hastie rammed home the third from 10 yards.
