United move up to second in the league win a hard-working win versus Dumbarton.
By Tommy McKay.
With seven goals in seven games all talk before kick off was whether or not Tony Andreu could add to that amazing tally however it was two defenders which proved to be the match winners for United today.
Dumbarton goal keeper Alan Martin and Cammy Bell both had outstanding saves which ensured the teams remained level at half time however United made their superiority count in the second half and a goal from Edjenguele and an own goal from Mark Docherty gave United the victory.
On 52 minutes a corner kick from Scott Fraser was flicked into his own net by Mark Docherty. When the 2
nd came it was again via a Fraser corner, this time on 66 minutes. Flood headed Fraser's short corner into the six yard box and after the initial attempt was saved, William Edjenguele was there to smash the ball home.
Dumbarton hit back on 73 minutes when Robert Thomson bundled the ball under Bell from three yards. Despite United appeals for offside referee Craig Charleston let the goal stand.
United continued to boss possession and whilst they were unable to find a killer third, two goals were enough in a game that moves United into second place in the Ladbrokes Championship table.
