Dev League: United 0 Dundee 3

6th September 2016

The Young Terrors were defeated 3 - 0 by their Dens neighbours at Tannadice tonight. By Peter Rundo Already a goal down, United were reduced to ten men when defender Scott Allardice was harshly red-carded for a last man offence. Ian Smith picked up the ball after a mix-up in the Tangerines' defence and fired home from the edge of the box. Further woe for followed for the Tannadice side ten minutes later with Allardice’s dismissal for bringing down the Dee’s trialist forward. Even before that, the visitors had controlled proceedings, but without creating too much other than a Smith shot after 36 minutes  which United keeper Brett Long brilliantly beat away. Understandably, against the short-handed hosts, the visitors totally dominated the second half. Ten minutes into it, Dundee doubled their lead. A Craig Wighton shot was blocked and broke to Mark Smith who netted from close range. And skipper Nicky Low made it three just after the hour mark when he drilled home from eight yards after a mazy run.
