Dev League: United 1 Motherwell 1

16th February 2016

Honours were even in today's encounter at Links Park as the Tangerines hit back in the second half to earn a point. By Peter Rundo The Steelmen’s sprightly start was rewarded with the lead after five minutes. United failed to clear their lines and the ball cannoned about before Josh Muir rammed home from close range. United subsequently came into the game with  chances falling to Jordan Garden, Brad Smith and Scott Allardice who all had chances but without testing the keeper. However, they did after 58 minutes when Garden fired in a low shot from an acute angle which was tipped round the post by the visiting keeper. And six minutes later, United levelled with Brad Smith crashing a 30-yarder into the top corner. Thereafter, the hosts looked the likelier winners, but Motherwell would have nicked a last gasp winner, but for Logan Davie’s goal-line clearance, Dundee United: Booth, Tumilty, McNaughton, H Souttar, Davie, Allardice (Ritchie 85), Ballantyne, B Smith, Bodul, Garden (Taylor 70), Duke (Murrell 65). Substitutes not used: J Donaldson, Dailly.
