Dundee United today secured, subject to international clearance, a third signing under new Head Coach Mixu Paatelainen with the capture of forward Florent Sinama Pongolle.
The 31-year-old joins the Tangerines until the end of the season alongside Guy Demel and Gavin Gunning who both agreed similar length contracts recently.
Florent started his professional career at Liverpool and has also played for Recreativo de Huelva, Atlético Madrid, Sporting Clube de Portugal and, most recently, Chicago Fire and Lausanne-Sport amongst others in his career.
The France-born player, who has been training with the Club over recent weeks, should be available for selection for Saturday’s home match versus Hamilton and could possibly make his debut with fellow new signing Demel as United look to close the points on the teams immediately above them in the league.
United Head Coach Mixu Paatelainen said: “He will bring experience, tactical awareness and quality to our squad. He understands football, shows excellent passing and positional sense. I am looking forward to working with him.”
