ONE GOAL IS ENOUGH

6th May 2001

A Steven Thompson goal after twenty-two minutes was enough to separate United and Dunfermline this afternoon at Tannadice and give the Tangerines another three valuable points which is now the points lead held over St. Mirren with just two games to go

The margin of the win could have been greater particularly after dominating for lengthy periods in the first half but the Pars had much more of the play in the second half. This led to a tense last few minutes although the United defence throughout the game did well to severely limit the visitors' tally of shots on goal.

Next Saturday United are away to St. Johnstone while the Paisley Saints are at home to Aberdeen. The United support was vocal throughout the ninety minutes against Dunfermline and it is expected that there will be a huge turn-out of Arabs at McDiarmid.
