Match Preview

30th October 2015

United will be hoping to put behind them last week’s horror show for this weekend’s Halloween showdown against Ross County at Tannadice tomorrow, Saturday (3pm kick-off). By Gareth Scott With United currently propping up the league table, everybody is looking for a change in fortunes against Jim McIntyre and Billy Dodds's high flying Ross County side. The Staggies lie fourth in the table on 18 points and on Tuesday night advanced into their first League Cup semi final with a victory over their Highland rivals Inverness Caley Thistle. In addition to their management team there are other United connections with ex Terrors Brian Graham and Michael Gardyne both now on the books of County. United make take comfort from the fact that County did lose their last league outing to Hearts last weekend. United went down to a heavy defeat at the hands of Celtic but that match is now behind us and it has to be a case of getting points on the board and climbing the table. Last Sunday, six players aged 22 or under started against Celtic with two teenagers on the bench. This highlights the extent of the injury list with Morris, Dixon, Paton, Erskine, Dow and Bilate all missing at the moment. One positive is that Blair Spittal will return to the squad after serving a one match suspension. It’s another big week for United as the games come thick and fast, and a victory over County would set the boys up nicely for the cup tie against Hibs next midweek. One of the sweetest moments for Arabs came against Ross County back in 2010 so the supporters have fond memories of that clash between the sides. The only game between the sides this season came back in September when United went down to a narrow 2-1 defeat at the Global Energy Stadium. Last season United had the better of the three contests between the teams with two victories to County’s one. However it is now a much changed side that will visit Tayside on Saturday. Given the task at hand,  the continued backing of the fans will be crucial. If the team performs at the level seen during spells in recent home games, then the three points are certainly a possibility on Saturday. C’MON UNITED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
