 United had to settle for a draw at McDiarmid Park, as a late Murray Davidson header cancelled out John Rankin’s opener. The result could have been worse for the Terrors had it not been for the penalty-saving heroics from Radoslaw Cierzniak.

Cierzniak parried away Dave Mackay’s spot-kick in the last action of an uneventful first-half, before Rankin headed United ahead on the 68th minute.

But Davidson volleyed home an equaliser nine minutes later, and despite late flurries from both sides, the score-line finished tied at 1-1.
