Development League: United 2 St Mirren 0

4th May 2015

A younger than usual Dundee United side emerged victorious from a closely contested affair at Station Park, Forfar, this afternoon. By Peter Rundo There was little between the teams in the opening half, a stop by United keeper Luis Zwick with his foot from Lewis Morgan’s angled effort was the only time either keeper was really tested. But the second period was only two minutes old when the Tangerines went ahead. A Jamie Robson shot was blocked for a corner and from it the totally unmarked Darren Petrie headed home Chris McLaughlin’s delivery from close range. Saints then dominated and only a tremendous Zwick save to keep out a close range header from substitute Robbie Mitchell preserved that lead. However, with 20 minutes left, United scored a second on the counter attack. Ola Adeyemo was on the end of another McLaughlin assist to fire home. With ten minutes left, Jamie Montgomery should have added a third firing wide of the far post with only the keeper to beat. Dundee United:  Zwick, Horne, Robson (Ritchie 60), Petrie, Ballantyne, McLaughlin, M Smith (Hornby 90), B Smith, Adeyemo, Montgomery, Tumilty (Davie 69). Subs not used; Booth.
