Dundee United today announced an extension to their long-standing partnership with GA Engineering to include the naming rights of the Club’s redeveloped training centre ahead of the official launch in March.
The local firm has agreed a five-year deal which will see the complex renamed ‘The GA Engineering Arena’. The investment will significantly strengthen the Academy set-up and help cultivate the many community based projects in and around the city of Dundee.
The GA Engineering Arena will be home to the Dundee United Academy, from the Development Squad down to our youngest teams, as well as play host to extensive community programmes.
The training centre has benefited from a far-reaching regeneration programme over the last few months with significant investment by Dundee United as well as ArabTRUST, the Federation DUSC, DUDA and Dundee United Business Club bringing the facility up to the highest standard in the country. The centre piece of the work was installing a state of the art FIFA 2 star playing surface which will also be used by the first team for training on occasion.
March 2015 will see the official launch of the complex after which the Club’s academy structure will be able to utilise the state of the art surface for development. United’s Development Squad games will also take place within the GA Engineering Arena.
The Club’s links with the community will also be strengthened as our in house community programmes will return as well as the surface being available for hire in selected time slots all year round.
Head of Commercial Paul Reid said, “Gordon Deuchars and GA Engineering have once again shown tremendous backing to the future of not only Dundee United but to the wider community.
“On behalf of everyone at Dundee United, I would like to thank both for this long term commitment. The benefits of this partnership will be felt by the wider community as well as within the Academy.”
Gordon Deuchars, MD of GA Engineering, said, “I was delighted to take this opportunity to help increase the Club’s links with the local community and also the development of the Club’s renowned Youth Academy.
“GA Engineering is a local firm which has strong community roots and this is another opportunity to strengthen those roots as well as increasing our successful relationship with Dundee United.”
The GA Engineering Arena will be officially launched on 6 March 2015.
