Dundee United today announced, subject to International clearance, the signing of Scotland internationalist Paul Dixon. The 28-year-old rejoins the Terrors after signing a contract until the end of season 2016/17.
Paul, who played 146 times for the Tangerines in his previous spell scoring five times, joins after leaving Huddersfield Town.
A strong fans' favourite from his previous spell, Paul spoke of his joy at once again joining his boyhood heroes.
He said, “I always said I would be back here one day and cannot wait to get started. This is my club, I have kept an eye on the progress and with us challenging on three fronts, I believe this could be a great year for United.
“I’m coming back more experienced and, although I have no regrets about my time down in England because it has made me a better player, the lure of wearing the tangerine strip again was important to me. I am absolutely delighted.”
United Manager Jackie McNamara said, “This is a great signing. Paul is another international player brought in during the January transfer window. He has great experience playing in the Championship and will be a massive player for us.
“He is a strong attacking full back who provides excellent delivery and he returns here a far better defender than he left. Paul is at an excellent age to help the younger lads in our team with his experience and his signing enhances our chances of achieving our goal of winning silverware this season.”
