Tannadice Crowds Up

9th January 2015

It’s been a successful campaign so far for Dundee United with the Club still competing in both cup competitions and battling at the top end of the Scottish Premiership and the fans are responding in fantastic numbers. Watching some of the most exciting and attacking football in the country, attendances at Tannadice are up by 8.6% over the first ten games of the season in relation to 2013/15. 86,302 fans have entered via the turnstiles at Tannadice in the ten games so far this season. This compares to 79,423 who attended the first ten Scottish Premiership fixtures in 2013/14. United’s record over the first ten games read 8-1-1, with eight victories, one draw and only one defeat. The Tangerines are currently the top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership with 39 goals in 20 games including 22 United goals in the ten home fixtures so far! In total 31 goals have been witnessed in these ten home fixtures - Tannadice is the place for entertainment no doubt 2014/15 has seen the Club use some smart pricing concepts including the highly successful ‘Festive Hat Trick’ package which doubled the number of walk up customers compared to the previous season. This commitment to providing entertainment at the best possible value underpins the Club’s philosophy of encouraging spectators to come to Tannadice and enjoy the occasion. There are, of course, factors which make the direct comparison difficult - most notably the inclusion of our local rivals Dundee FC within the top league this season however that is likely to be offset by the lack of both Hibernian and Hearts from our fixture list. A look at games against teams who were in the same division shows that figures are up in the vast majority matches with home outings v St Johnstone, Partick, St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Celtic showing improved numbers and only the Aberdeen and Ross County fixtures slightly down on last season - and there were valid reasons for this. With crowds up and the team’s performances reacting to the large and positive home crowds, everything augurs well for the second half of the season and with the support of the Tangerine Army the potential for a great campaign remains a strong possibility. Continue to cheer on the Terrors, your support is greatly appreciated.
