The Dundee United first team squad visited the Tayside Children’s hospital within Ninewells today to hand out over £1,000 worth of gifts.
First team players including Sean Dillon, Chris Erskine, Ryan Dow, Nadir Ciftci, Rado Cierzniak and Stu Armstrong brought some Christmas cheer to the youngsters and nurses within the wards.
The squad arrived with gifts for kids of all ages and spent a while posing for photos and signing autographs for the youngsters. Another squad of players visited wards 16 and 17 to bring some Christmas cheer to the patients within these wards also.
Club captain Sean Dillon said: “It was great to come here and hand out gifts to the kids. The look of delight on their faces brings home the real message of Christmas, in the season of goodwill. It’s a small act for us to spend some time to bring some joy.”
Striker Nadir Ciftci said: “These youngsters are an inspiration. Despite being in hospital at this time, they all showed great bravery. I hope our visit makes their Christmas that little bit happier.
NHS Tayside Chairman Sandy Watson said, "We were delighted that the players and officials from Dundee United chose to visit our Children's Hospital to spread some festive cheer.
"Having to be in hospital at Christmas time is never pleasant but visits like this make the time more bearable, especially for children.
"We are very grateful to Dundee United for their generosity and for taking the time out of their busy training schedule."
