Dundee United is deeply saddened by the passing of Ron Wilkie. Ron, whose warmth and personality will be missed by everyone, served the Club for over 20 years in a voluntary capacity as an administrator of the Young Arabs junior supporters' club and as a mascot co-ordinator on matchdays at Tannadice.
Always a proud Arab, Ron became a member of the newly formed Dundee United Business Club in the early 1990s and served as a committee member until 2012. Ron helped organise the Club's junior supporters' club, formerly the Young Lions and more recently the Young Arabs, and was an ever present on match days meeting and assisting the mascots and their families on their big day.
Well known throughout the city as a taxi driver and as a director of Tele Taxis, Ron was very highly respected within both Dundee United and Dundee United Business Club.
Our thoughts are with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and we remember his great pride in following his grandson Lee and his achievements in football.
