The domestic season may be finished but the international calendar is currently building up to the crescendo that is the world cup and although Scotland are not directly involved, it has been a busy fixture list recently at all levels. Dundee United involvement has been plentiful.
Cammy Ballantyne recently played a major role in the Scotland Under 17s route to the semi final of the UEFA European Under-17 Championships in Malta. Defeat v Portugal meant the Scots had to defeat Germany and Switzerland to reach the semi final and they did just that.
John Souttar, Ryan Gauld and Darren Petrie all starred for Scotland in the UEFA European Under-19 Championships Elite Round qualifiers in England with John scoring against the 'auld enemy' in the 2-1 defeat. A 0-0 draw previously with Ukraine means the young Scots cannot now qualify regardless of the result in their fixture v Montenegro (29/05).
Stu Armstrong again captained the Under 21s in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier against Holland which saw the Scots crash 6-1 to a Quincy Promes inspired Dutch team.
At full international level, Andy Robertson capped his stunning debut season for the Club by starting the international challenge match v Nigeria at Craven Cottage. Andy played a starring role in the 2-2 draw.
Paul Paton is currently away with the Northern Ireland squad for a double header of challenge matches with Uruguay (30/05) and Chile(04/06).
Ali Coote has been called up for the U16 (1998) UEFA Development Tournament to be held in Bosnia between 7-13 June.
