Club Ambassador Hamish McAlpine was on hand today to attend the launch of the Still Game, a project tailored for people aged 60 and over.
In a photo call involving both city teams, he is joined by DFC legend Gordon Wallace as well as the Community Managers of both clubs, Gordon Grady and Craig Feret.
Now into its second year, the programme is designed to counteract isolation by promoting social engagement amongst our seniors.
Participants will meet new people, learn about new technology and keeping safe as well as receive advice on maintaining well being. There is also the opportunity to take part in gentle forms of exercise which, if our first year of delivering the programme is anything to go by, will include lots of laughing!!!!
Sessions take place at Tannadice and are free of charge.
The ten week programme will start on
Thursday 27 March at 10am to 12 noon.Everything will be provided at the Club, including refreshments, so there is no need to bring or wear anything specific. As the project goes on, participants may be asked to bring in things from the past for an activity.
The programme is delivered by our Community development officers as well as guest speakers, and will include the chance to meet some heroes of the past and possibly those of today.
If you are 60+ and wish to book a place or obtain more information, please contact DUFC Community Manager Gordon Grady on (01382) 833166 (option 0 or 5). Alternatively, send us an email on
communitymanager@dundeeunitedfc.co.uk.
As this programme is specifically aimed at isolated people, we would ask our fans to think about people they know in their family or neighbourhood who would benefit from the Dundee United Still Game and encourage them to get in touch.
