Poor defending in the opening 45 minutes was responsible for Dundee United losing to Hamilton Accies at Airdrie United's Excelsior Stadium.
Indeed, the Tangerines were three down at the break, without creating a chance of their own. But in a much improved second half performance, they pulled back before Hamilton grabbed a fourth.
Such was Accies' first half dominance, the only surprise was that it took them 30 minutes to finally forge in front.
Eamonn Brophy dispossessed Adam Harwood on the left-hand byeline and drove in on goal, cutting the ball back for Danny Armstrong to sweep home.
Three minutes later and United fell further behind when Lewis Longbridge crossed into Brophy's path allowing him to first time home from 12 yards.
There was more woe for the Tangerines ten minutes from the interval when Bagdad-born Aldin El Zubaidi's glancing header from a Grant Gillespie free-kick crept inside the far post.
Just past the hour mark, United pulled one back, Jamie Montgomery heading in Chris McLaughlin's deep cross from the left at the far post.
And midway through the second half, only the legs of Accies' keeper Blair Currie kept out a Brian Graham header.
However, Jason McGrath sealed victory with a fourth for the visitors with six minutes left.
And although McLaughlin fired in a free kick two minutes later for United's second, it was of mere consolation value.
