Dundee United today confirmed the loan signing of 28-year-old striker Farid El Alagui, subject to international clearance, until the end of the season.
Farid joined Brentford in the summer of 2012 after announcing himself to Scottish football with a 28-goal spree helping Falkirk secure the Scottish Challenge Cup during season 2011/12 and scoring two goals as Falkirk disposed of Rangers en route to the Scottish League Cup semi final.
Born in Bordeaux, France, Farid started his career with Bergerac Football before moving to Moroccan sides Wydad and Stade Olympique Romorantinais, earning his contract at Falkirk after a successful loan period.
He made an immediate impact for The Bees at Griffin Park scoring three goals in his first five games before a knee injury curtailed his match action throughout the 2012/13 season. On his return at the start of 2013/14, he marked his comeback with a double in the Capital One cup tie against Dagenham and Redbridge and has scored six goals in eighteen appearances this season.
Manager Jackie McNamara said, "This is the ideal time for us to bring in Farid. He scores goals, has strong aerial ability and will hold the ball up and allow his fellow attackers to get involved. We have moved quickly to secure him because there was interest from other clubs and I am delighted to sign him.
"He will bring something a little different from what we have at the Club and will enhance our attacking threat."
