All tickets have been sold and a capacity crowd is anticipated for the Scottish Premier League fixture between Dundee United FC and Aberdeen FC on New Year's Day (Wednesday, January 1, 2014), kick-off 3pm.
Around 3500 Aberdeen fans are expected to travel to Dundee and the Match Commander, Chief Superintendent Craig Suttie hopes that both they and their Dundee United counterparts enjoy the occasion in seasonal good cheer.
Chief Superintendent Suttie said:
''We are looking forward to what we are sure will be an excellent New Year's Day fixture between these North east rivals and we want both sets of supporters enjoy the occasion in the correct manner.
''As ever, we have worked closely with both clubs in advance of the game and we will be there on the day, working alongside the stewards to help keep them safe. We expect both sets of supporters to be considerate and law abiding before during and after the fixture. Officers will be present and available to assist them where required, but they will also deal effectively with anyone who is involved in any disorder or criminal behaviour.''
Police officers will be active outside the ground to prevent the misuse of alcohol and there will be stop checks carried out on supporters' buses en route to the game.
With road works ongoing on the local network, supporters are also advised to allow plenty of time for travel to the game to ensure that they arrive at the ground in plenty of time to be inside for kick-off.
