Dundee United today announced that exciting midfielder Stuart Armstrong has agreed a contract extension securing his future at the Club until July 2016.
The attack minded 21-year-old recently made his 100th appearance for the Terrors and has scored 11 goals. He has already netted six times this season in his 17 appearances and is currently captain of the Scotland Under 21 team. His form saw him called up into the full Scotland squad for the recent match v Norway. Stuart has also captained United on several occasions this season.
Manager Jackie McNamara said, "I am delighted with this as Stuart has really flourished this season and his performances have been sensational on many occasions. You can see he is adding consistency to his game and he has already scored more goals this season than in any previous season for the Club. There are not many players who can play the game the way he plays it and he excites the fans.
"He is an exceptional talent who will grace a larger stage at one point but his decision to commit to a longer contract at Dundee United shows that he knows this is the best place to continue his development. There is a real positive vibe around the Club and this will show the United fans that the players are committed to taking this Club where it wants to be."
Stuart added, "I am enjoying my football, scoring goals and improving as a player so signing the extension was the obvious choice. It is such a joy being involved in our games and all the players have a similar vision to the Manager as to where we can go as a unit so I look forward to the next few years being very exciting for United and our fans."
