Assisted by first teamers Calum Butcher, Morgaro Gomis and Ryan Dow, the young Tangerines cruised to victory dispatching their Tynecastle counterparts 5 - 0 at Starks Park tonight.
The tone of the match was set after only two minutes when Jamie Montgomery's angled effort was only just tipped round the post by Hearts keeper Jack Hamilton.
Just four minutes later, United did take the lead. Ryan Dow played the ball though to Aidan Connolly and his shot on the turn from 12 yards found the bottom corner.
It was one way traffic and on 18 minutes, Scott Fraser fired the young Tangerines further ahead with a snap-shot from the edge of the box which went in via the underside of the bar after the ball was partially parried by the keeper.
Goal number three came after 25 minutes when Connolly collected a loose ball after a Fraser shot rebounded to him and he rounded a defender and the keeper before firing home from close range.
After 36 minutes, Fraser intercepted a stray pass from Hearts defender Liam Gordon and played in Dow who steered the ball inside the far post ten yards for the fourth.
Four minutes from the interval, it was almost five when only an incredible headed goal-line clearance by Jack Simpson prevented Calum Butcher's thundering first volley from counting.
Although United took their foot off the gas in the second half, they remained in charge.
And with six minutes left, Connolly completed his hat-trick, curling home from the edge of the box.
